London - Southend Airport
London Southend Airport is located in Rockford in Essex, England about 42 miles away from London. It started off as an airfield but opened for civil aviation in 1935 by Sir Philip Sassoon. It handles all types of flights i.e. cargo, charter, pilot training etc. It has a runway measuring 1799(opened in 2012) meter usable length.
The terminal has various facilities i.e. Coffee bars, shops, ATMs bureau de change, taxi hire, auto hire, lounges, and facilities for pilots etc. In that respect is also a holiday in next to the airport entrance, which is exposed to the public.
It is accessed by coaches from the airport entrance to Southend, Rockford, Eastwood and Rayleigh. A rail service to London Liverpool with a traveling time of 53 minutes is also available passing through Stratford. A new rail in the airport opened in 2011 to make commuting from and to the airport much easier.
Various airlines use the airport e.g. easy Jet, Flybe, sky works airlines, Volotea to destinations all over the world but some of the busiest routes include to and from Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and jersey.
