Queenstown – Queenstown Airport (ZQN)
Queenstown Airport is situated in Frankton, part of Otago in the South Island of New Zealand and is located 8km from the ski and resort town of Queenstown. Sat nav: Sir Henry Wigley Dr, Frankton 9300.
It was opened on the 6th November 1961 and used by Mount Cook Airlines who were the first to bring in tourist flights to Queenstown from Christchurch and Mount Cook.
Queenstown Airport provides main domestic routes to Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch as well as international flights to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
These routes are serviced by Air New Zealand, Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Australia.
There are one terminal and ten gates. The airport itself has no hotels or restaurants on site, but there are plenty of choices in the nearby Queenstown Township.
There are car parking facilities located near the airport. Parking for less than 20 minutes is free. After that the fees are $4 for up to an hour, $10 for three hours with a $1 hourly rate thereafter. Longer term parking is available also. Buses run every 15 minutes from the airport into Queenstown and cost $8 for an adult and $5 for a child. Taxis to and from the airport can be pre-booked online.
